Strand Cafe in Thiessow

We have been on vacation for 13 years and enjoy the good-tasting delicious food. This of course always includes an amber wheat and the obligatory caraway. The ambience and the friendly advisory service are second to none. An evening on the terrace with a view of the passing ships at sunset is particularly recommended. Difficult. The food was good overall. Prices reasonable. Service fast and sufficiently friendly. Beef roulade with dumplings, red cabbage and a lot of sauce is almost nowhere else on the menu. Unfortunately, the roulade was tough in places, but still tasty. The host, older generation, takes care of the drinks and touches his regular guests, but not everyone else. They are greeted with a hug in the middle of the shop, despite Corona. The mask is worn decoratively dangling around the ear. The decor of the restaurant is okay, but a cold wind is blowing through the dining room. Slippery wet floor under the table. Unfortunately, we didn't really feel at home.

Good price-performance ratio of the food, large portions, nice service. Unfortunately, my rather large Hamburger Schnitzel was already too cooked and a bit dry. Fried potatoes a bit sticky could be crosser. Salad fresh and tasty. But is complaining at a high level. ________________________________ I thought for a long time whether I should write a comment about the host. Behind the bar is an older man who fills the glasses for the guests. Unfortunately we could see that the host reached into the full glasses several times. Apart from the casual use of mouth and nose protection, something like that is not possible these days. I don't even dare to say what else came. A guest brought back a bottle and a half-full glass of apple juice because the edge of the glass was damaged when it was opened. The guest got a new bottle and a new glass. The host, who was not idle, tipped the contents of the glass back into the bottle and put the bottle back in the refrigerator. Sorry folks, almost everything was fine, but that just doesn't work. Therefore only 1 star instead of 4 stars.

Basically the staff is very friendly and tried hard 🙂 The waffle was great. Unfortunately, the grumpy old owner tears it again what staff and good kitchen build up 🤷🏼‍♂️

Good home cooking, everything was very tasty. Friendly service and a great view of the Baltic Sea - what more could you want 👍🏻

A warm restaurant, really tasty food and a great team

The location right on the water is of course great, and the food is also very tasty. Unfortunately, our dinner was more of a handling, the service not exactly service-oriented. She didn't say thank you for the tip, everything was a bit flippant, at least that evening.

We were served very rude. We ate waffles with applesauce. It was delicious, but I get it elsewhere in a friendly atmosphere. You can also sit outside, which is guaranteed to be wonderful when the weather is nice. But as already mentioned, when the staff is grumpy (although the house wasn't even full), you don't feel like going to the restaurant twice

We have already been here in May and ate delicious fish on the terrace, now in September we had a seat inside. The roulades were awesome. Price / performance perfectly ok. The well-rehearsed team was very attentive and the lovable and child-friendly host Udo always has everything under control. The hygiene measures are implemented very well. Conclusion: Definitely go to eat there!

As always, it was delicious. We like to come back every year and have never been disappointed. So thank you very much

Very nice staff, good kitchen, price-performance ratio is right. Good regulation regarding hygiene regulations. You have to wait in the waiting area and will be picked up when a table becomes free. Tables are always disinfected. Very neat

Bottomless cheek! We wanted to reserve at 5:30 p.m., then it was said to be possible at 5:00 p.m. Yes, why not at 5:00 p.m. Okay, ordered, food was okay. At 6:20 p.m. we ordered drinks. There were four of us and we wanted to have a drink in comfort. The drinks also came, and at the same moment we were asked to pay because our table was freshly rented again at 6:30 p.m. ??? Unfortunately, we only found out at this point that the tables would be rented out in two stages. We had to vacate the table, even though we got the drink we had ordered about 5 minutes earlier. We were appalled by this treatment, forcibly left our drinks and left the premises without an apology. Therefore max. 1 point.

My absolute highlight this year on Rügen. Fantastic view of the Baltic Sea, nice staff, tables are immediately disinfected for the next guests. Very good home cooking. Hamburger schnitzel with fried eggs, fried potatoes and salad. Roulades with two dumplings and red cabbage. The dishes were delicious and plentiful. Hard to manage. In addition, at absolutely fair prices and with the view. We will definitely go there again on our next vacation on Rügen. The only drawback, as already described, you have to wait once. I would have liked to have given it 6 stars this time, unfortunately it doesn't work here.

Very nice restaurant with a very large and beautiful terrace overlooking the beach and the sea. Down-to-earth, good food and friendly staff. The children's dishes are large but the children (5 and 7) really enjoyed it. The prices are acceptable but not cheap.

We had the game goulash and the Hamburg schnitzel. Both were very good in taste. I can only recommend. Prices are absolutely fine. Staff was friendly. Hygiene was observed. Keep it up...

Nice fishes just 1 minute walking from de beach

Nice view onto the Baltic Sea (through glass shield/ wind proximity protection). Delicious food (try the waffles with cream AND apple sauce OR the also-superb icecream). Spacious paid parking in front of the cafe.

Relatively cheap and delicious food

In the year 2017, I find it unbeleivable that a restaurant that lives on tourists still does not accept international bank cards. Well, you lost 9 customers in 2 minutes that day in July.
